Fad vs. Fact: What Ingredients Work?
Thousands of pills to take and all of them want you to lose weight. Some of them are written to the point you want to believe the excitement laced within the words. While some of the diet pills do work, others contain ingredients that will do nothing for you. Below we will explore those ingredients and possibly save you some time and money.
- Phyllis Husk: One common new form of fiber being marketed with diet pills is the Phyllis Husk. This is a large amount of insoluble fiber and while it may help you lose some weight down the road, it will have little effect to begin with. However, it may help lower your cholesterol levels.
- Orlistat: Recently having become a favorite among dieters, this new drug marketed in several different brand names used to be available by prescription only. It is safe, and provides results if you maintain a low fat diet. If you do consume fat with this drug the results are very unpleasant.
- Apple Cider Vinegar: Although it may cause a mild burning on the way down, it also comes in a pill format. It has been proven to contain the benefits of an apple and is very effective in helping burn off weight.
- Cayenne Pepper: Another safe method of burning off weight. By increasing your internal temperature this spicy pepper helps increase metabolism safely without the jitters that caffeine and stimulants can cause.
- Hoodia: While many companies claim it can help you lose weight and curb your appetite, it also can increase blood pressure and cause strokes. There is no proven link to weight loss either.
- Meridia: While it does work, and works well for weight loss you and your doctor need to monitor your blood pressure closing while taking this drug.
This is of course only a small sampling of the most commonly sought after ingredients in most diet pills. Often you will hear people discussing diets like the cookie diet, or the spinach diet. These diets are not safe, and compromise healthy eating for small increments of a favored item.
Diet pills can be tricky, before buying any pill check all the ingredients online and see what the potential side effects might be. The diet pill won’t provide you with the negative information; only what the pills can potentially do for you. Research is essential in protecting your own health.
